Nina and her Mum sat down together at the kitchen table with mugs of tea and cake to think and plan how her parents could best support her with stressful areas of home life. Nina is a very diligent and hard-working teenager, who takes her work very seriously and generally likes to work alone. She really struggled with the amount of work involved in working for GCSEs. Planning time well was a struggle and she never felt she had time to do some of the fun things in life. This was leading to some ‘clear expressions of teenage dissatisfaction’ and so her parents agreed that they needed to understand what was helpful support to her and also to decide where they could have permission to be more directive or what ‘good bossy’ looked like.
