Mel was in Year 6 when her profile was developed as a way to help the staff at her new school to get to know her. First, Mel spent some time thinking about what made a good and bad day for her at school and what helped her to have more good days. Mel’s parents were asked the same questions and also what they love about her and this was added to her profile too. Mel’s Year 6 teacher and the teaching assistants who spent time in her class also contributed. When Mel’s profile was written, Mel and her Mum and school checked that it was right before her Mum gave it to her new secondary school.
At Mel’s new school, her profile was presented to all the teachers at a meeting the day before the new term started and they got a copy of it too to help them get to know Mel quickly.
